Singularity
Singularity is an open source initiative dedicated to developing and promoting RFID Software technology for use in supply chain management, EPCglobal Network™. inventory management, payment solutions, etc. Singularity has two major components, the Middleware and EPC Information Service (EPC-IS).
Singularity provides an open source EPC-IS that supports the EPCglobal™ specifications, as well as enables successful integration of EPC related information into the enterprise. While the Middleware provides RFID/Sensor device and event management. The technology platform chosen for Singularity is Java™, as it can be introduced into almost any corporate infrastructure.
The main goal of Singularity is to accelerate the evolution and adoption of RFID solutions. RFID Middleware and EPC-IS provides a platform that reduces entrance barriers, as well as provides a base to allow commercial companies to accelerate their product offerings. The open source approach, utilizing the Apache 2.0 license, enables end users, as well as commercial vendors, to effectively introduce RFID enabled solutions into the enterprise.

If you would like to learn more about how Singularity can provide value to your organization, desire additional information on the project, or have comments/suggestions please send an e-mail to singularity@firstopen.org. Singularity is hosted at sourceforge.net, where you can find source code and releases. The sidebar on this site has RSS feeds to the project information hosted at sourceforge, as well as issue management and collaboration portals.

Singularity is sponsored by i-Konect, an integration services company with a focus on RFID as well as other sensor related technology, and its use in a variety of vertical industries.
i-Konect has also founded FirstOpen, an open source consortium focused on RFID and Sensor Event Driven solutions. Singularity is the initial project of the FirstOpen consortium.
